Our Next Step in Supporting the BLM Movement
This June, PlumpJack pledged to take actionable steps to support the BLM movement. We have since donated to the East Oakland Youth Development Center and are currently working on actualizing a productive diversity, equity and inclusion task force alongside outside racial equity advisors and facilitators. And this month, we are launching a campaign to commit 10% of all gift card sales through 2020, good at any PlumpJack property, to The Hidden Genius Project that trains and mentors black male youth in technology creation, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills. We still have a long way to go in our journey. We look forward to sharing with you the steps we are taking to give back, get educated and improve the diversity in our businesses.
MORE ABOUT: THE HIDDEN GENIUS PROJECT
The Hidden Genius Project was founded in 2012 by five black male entrepreneurs/technologists who were unnerved by the dramatic juxtaposition between the high unemployment of black male youth and the plethora of career opportunities within the local technology sector. To address this challenge, the founders established a program to connect young black males with the skills, mentors, and experiences that they need to become high-performing entrepreneurs and technologists in a 21st century, global economy.
